Haleh - Jackie's and Teo's daughter - lives with her husband Gabe and three children - Samarah, Kian, and Darian - in Ridgefield, Connecticut. It was Election Day so the kids were off from school. They are otherwise extremely busy with school and sports in twenty directions. The kids were very attentive to us. Kian made Jalil coffee. I was offered different types of tea. We all had a lovely lunch together except Darian who was outside.
Haleh showed us around the house. I think it was built in the 1800's. She had an office with a different entrance, where she sees her clients. It was a beautiful house.
She drove us and the kids to a Reservation in New York State not far from her house. On the way she showed us the house where they used to live. We all had a wonderful walk in the fall leaves. We did some reminiscing about our camping and skiing together. We took a lot of trips together.
Haleh had cooked Bagali Polo and invited us for dinner. Jalil was reluctant because we needed to find our motel near New York City. The kids so sweetly asked us to stay but Jalil did not feel comfortable to do that.
And we did have some trouble. It was often difficult to understand Luna as there were often two choices to turn right and sometimes we did take the wrong one. "Recalculating, recalculating". We eventually got so close that we could see the Super8 sign but we could not find the entrance. We went around the block per Luna but we were too far away, so around again we drove and saw a little driveway going downhill in the dark in the opposite direction. We took it and went down and then up around into the Super8 driveway! Phew!!!
