We now headed east to Maine via New Hampshire. The roads were small and curvy and we passed over the Kancamagus Pass (2.855 ft) per Nancy's suggestion. There were tiny villages and an occasional small town. Most leaves had now fallen.

New Hampshire was more hilly and there were a little more color in the trees as I was on the lookout for them. We stopped in the White Mountains National Forest for a short hike. We need to move our bodies more.
At some point Jalil noticed a covered bridge, which we had to check out - Swiftwater 1849. There was a waterfall below it and we had some tea there from our thermos and something to eat.The weather was chilly and the sky dark.
We stopped at the Lower Falls in the White Mountains - a small, pretty water fall.
At Conway Village Cafe - just across the border to Maine - we had something unremarkable to eat. The waitress was not that interested in serving us. An older couple entered the restaurant and the man announced loudly: "It better have sex in it!" The waitress assured him that that was the case. They came there to watch a video! While paying for it, they were discussing some big accident caused by a woman, who per the newspaper had caused many accidents before. The waitress stated that it had to be so and so, because she had had many accidents and the employees at the gas station was afraid of her as they thought she would hit the pumps. The waitress told the man that somebody had to talk to her about not driving any more. The couple went to watch the video in another room. I piped in that it would be a good idea to get her MD involved. It worked with my mother. "Don't worry. She is this man's ex wife and he will take care of it. This was his girl friend."
Nearby was a visitor center where we got some nice and friendly advise on what to see
in Maine with the important places and roads on the map yellowed in. We drove to Lewiston in the dark with Luna's help to a nice motel - no laundry so I could relax instead.
great story, keep on writing I enjoy reading it, I may go on a trip too like you.
