We went to the park to check out where the round up would take place Monday morning as we had to drive there in the dark. It is a huge park but we found the Wildlife Loop which took us to the area where we had to be in the morning. But we had to decide if we should go to the north area, which the woman at Devils Tower had recommended, or the south area. Hard to tell. Jalil thought it would be shorter to the south area, so that was the decision. We saw buffalo there already.
There was a Buffalo Roundup Arts Festival in the park both Saturday and Sunday so we headed there hoping to get some chili as there was a chili cookoff. But we were too late for that. They were selling chili at a booth and we managed to get the last bowls. Afterwards we listened to some country music being played on the stage.
On the way home we took the Needles Highway - another very narrow, beautiful road with tunnels for 14 miles. There were oddly shaped, weathered granite spires along the road. The fall colors were beautiful. We ended up at Sylvan Lake. The wind had been strong all day but now it was also freezing cold. We were really glad that we had that cabin.
